There are 57 contests in the 2020 Democratic primary. A total of 3,979 pledged delegates will be awarded to the Democratic National Convention, where the Party’s nominee will be selected. A candidate needs 1991 pledged delegates to clinch the nomination.

Joe Biden currently has a commanding delegate lead with 1180. It will be difficult for Bernie Sanders (885) to catch up at this point, especially since the Democratic Party doesn’t have winner-take-all states.
